Welcome to The Drift Inn
The Drift Inn is one of Globe-Miami's favorite watering holes and attracts both locals and travelers for the same reason. Down home, neighborhood bar with alot of character and history to entertain just about anybody. Old liquor bottles line the walls dating back to the late 1800's, and bordello paintings of women who plied their trade in the area hang on the walls. The bar itself is over 100 ft long and overlooks the floor where you'll find a shuffleboard court, 2 pool tables and a walk-in beer cooler.
Built in 1902 by Pasquale Nebro, The Drift Inn was originally known as the International (Saloon) House. It was the largest adobe building in Arizona at the time. Ten years later the Rabogliatti brothers purchased the building. The upper floors of the 12,000 sq foot building was used as a Bordello at the Turn-of-the-Century, and housed 25 rooms. Today the upper floor remains unoccupied except for a few spirits, and the Bar/Saloon on the ground floor has undergone needed repairs and historic restoration work, thanks to owners Lisa and Eileen who bought the bar in 1998.
An article in the Spring edition of Globe Miami Times which featured The Drift Inn, goes into detail on the work which was done to preserve the building and The Drift's mantle as the "longest continually operating bar" in Arizona. The Drift is very popular with bikers both locally and from the Valley and you'll often find the parking places in front reserved for a group riding up from the Valley for a Day Trip to the Drift!
The bar is also well known among ghost hunters who have found, what the owners and patrons, have always known....that their are spirits who are quite vocal and physical in letting their presence known! Bar stools have flipped over when no one was near, apparitions have been seen on the upper floors and more...
The Drift offers a range of beers, both local and imported, a limited selection of wines, and a selection of hard liquor to suit most tastes. The bar hosts poker nights, pool tournaments, karoake nights and more, and has participated in numerous fund raisers for local individuals and charities.
