Jean’s interest in nature and drawing began during her early childhood years on a farm in Virginia. She attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, took a basic art history class, became enchanted with French Impressionism and feels this started her lifelong “off and on” art career. Jean feels that she cannot paint or draw something she has not experienced, therefore prefers painting from her own photographs or plain air painting using graphite, oils or watercolors depending on the subject or her mood. Her show features a variety of subjects which reflect her admiration for Arizona. Today Jean paints and draws all things Colorado Plateau: The Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Canyonlands and Arches National Monument. She is a volunteer at the South Rim, Grand Canyon National Park and feels like she’s in heaven! For more information, call the Center, 928-425-0884.
