Superior, AZ is about a 45 minute drive due East of Mesa on Highway 60.  It has vintage mining town architecture and dramatic natural features like Apache Leap rising 1,000 vertical feet to form a striking backdrop that wraps around the east edge of town. 

PLEIN AIR PAINTERS

Plein air painters are invited to help capture Superior scenes during this event.   Arizona Plein Air Painters association members have a group outing planned; Gold Canyon professional artist Burdell Moody will offer an informal lecture about plein air - and demonstrate technique.

Proceeds from  the self-guided tour benefit the local chamber of commerce, funding this and similar events. Among the half-dozen studios featured will be Chuck Davison, whose vivid rustic murals are landmarks of downtown Superior.  Stone sculptor Tommy Macias, painter Bernie Neinaber and Marilee Lasch will also open their homes to visitors for the day. Don't miss a rare chance to meet ceramic artist Terry Stone and buy unique artworks at his singular home-studio. He might even be sharing some of his home-made chicory with guests.
